Vietnam’s Education Sector Wraps Up 2025: A Pivot Toward Equality and Standardization

CaliToday (29/12/2025): The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has officially released its top 10 achievements for 2025, marking a transformative year defined by sweeping social welfare reforms and a decisive return to a unified national curriculum structure.

Vietnam’s Education Sector Wraps Up 2025

Alleviating Financial Burdens At the forefront of the 2025 agenda was a renewed commitment to educational equity. In a move to support families amidst fluctuating economic conditions, the Ministry successfully implemented expanded policies on tuition exemptions. These measures specifically targeted students in remote areas and low-income households, ensuring that financial hardship does not impede access to schooling.

Complementing the tuition waivers, the "School Meal Support" initiative was highlighted as a critical achievement. By standardizing nutritional quality in cafeterias, the program has played a pivotal role in improving the physical stature and health of students, addressing long-standing concerns regarding school nutrition in developing provinces.

Sixty outstanding educators, representing over 1.6 million teachers nationwide, were honored by the Prime Minister at a meeting of exemplary educators from across the country, held on the afternoon of November 15th, to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2025).

A Return to Standardization Perhaps the most significant structural shift announced in the report is the preparation for a unified set of state-mandated textbooks. Breaking away from the recent period of multiple textbook options, the Ministry confirmed that 2025 served as the foundational year for compiling and appraising a single, standard set of materials.

This strategic roadmap is set to officially launch in the 2026–2027 academic year. Education experts view this as a major consolidation effort aimed at reducing costs for parents and eliminating curriculum inconsistencies across regions.

Looking Ahead "2025 was a year of stabilizing the foundation," the report suggests, positioning the sector for a robust transition in 2026. With the dual focus on social security and academic standardization, Vietnam’s education system is poised for a synchronized and more inclusive future.
