CaliToday (17/12/2025): The heavyweight king faces a heavy financial blow as occupation authorities in his home region of Crimea target his substantial property portfolio.
In a move intensifying the tension between the sporting world and geopolitical conflict, the Russian-installed authorities in occupied Crimea have officially seized 84 assets belonging to the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, Oleksandr Usyk.
The decision, ratified by the so-called State Council of the peninsula, marks a significant escalation in Russia's campaign to "nationalize" property owned by prominent Ukrainian figures who oppose the ongoing invasion.
The Seizure: What Was Taken?
According to reports from the occupation administration, the seizure is not limited to a single home. The "nationalization" list has been expanded to include a massive portfolio of 84 distinct assets. These properties belong to both Usyk personally and various legal entities associated with the boxer.
While the specific inventory was not fully detailed in the initial announcement, such lists typically include:
Real estate (apartments and houses)
Commercial premises
Land plots
Business holdings
The "Official" Justification
The rationale provided by the Crimean occupation authorities is explicitly political. Vladimir Konstantinov, the head of the Russian-installed Crimean parliament, stated that the targeted individuals are those deemed to be acting against Russian interests.
The Accusation: The authorities claim that Usyk and other targeted owners "collaborated with Ukraine and used the income received in Crimea to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian entities."
Essentially, Usyk is being penalized for his patriotism. Since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, Usyk has been a vocal ambassador for Ukraine on the global stage, raising millions for reconstruction and humanitarian aid.
A Personal Hit for the "Cat"
This seizure is deeply personal for Usyk. He was born in Simferopol, Crimea, and lived there until the Russian annexation in 2014. For years, he navigated a difficult path, maintaining his residence in Crimea to stay close to his family and training base while representing Ukraine globally.
However, since 2022, Usyk has cut all ties with the occupiers, joined the Kyiv Territorial Defense in the early days of the war, and established the Usyk Foundation to support his country.
Context: Usyk on Top of the World
This news comes at a time when Usyk is at the absolute pinnacle of his sporting career.
Undisputed Glory: He recently defeated Tyson Fury to become the first Undisputed Heavyweight Champion in the four-belt era.
Global Symbol: He famously wears Cossack attire to weigh-ins and uses his press conferences to highlight the plight of Ukraine.
While the loss of 84 assets is a significant financial hit, Usyk has previously stated that material possessions mean little compared to the sovereignty of his nation and the safety of his family.
