Agricultural "Kings": Ri6 Durian and Export Staples Reach Record Heights

CaliToday (29/12/2025): As Vietnam approaches the final days of 2025, the agricultural sector has emerged as the undisputed "crown jewel" of the nation’s economy. Driven by an insatiable international appetite and high-quality yields, prices for key commodities most notably Ri6 durian, coffee, and pepper have soared to record-breaking levels.

The Durian Dynasty: Ri6 Breaks 62,000 VND/kg

The star of the year-end harvest is undoubtedly the Ri6 Durian. Farm-gate prices have solidified at a staggering 62,000 VND/kg, a record high that has transformed the fortunes of farmers in the Mekong Delta and Central Highlands.

This price hike is fueled by a "perfect storm" of high demand from the Chinese market and a limited off-season supply. Export companies are reportedly competing fiercely to secure high-quality batches for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festivities.

Coffee and Pepper: The Twin Engines of Export

Beyond the "King of Fruits," Vietnam’s traditional industrial staples coffee and pepper are providing the heavy lifting for the country's record-breaking trade surplus.

Coffee: With global inventories reaching critical lows, Vietnamese Robusta has commanded a premium on the world stage, helping domestic prices maintain a strong upward trajectory.

Pepper: Often overlooked in previous years, pepper has made a dramatic comeback in 2025, with prices surging as Vietnam cements its position as the world's leading supplier.

Together, these commodities have become the primary growth drivers, pushing Vietnam's total export turnover toward the historic $920 billion mark.

Strategic Shifts and Global Quality

Market analysts point out that this isn't just a story of high prices, but one of strategic evolution. Under the pressure of new international standards and Vietnam's own impending Personal Data Protection Law (which also impacts digital traceability in agriculture), farmers have shifted toward more transparent, high-tech cultivation methods.

"We are no longer just selling volume; we are selling quality and traceability," says a representative from an agricultural export guild. "When a kilogram of Ri6 reaches 62,000 VND, it reflects the global market's trust in the 'Vietnamese brand' a brand that is now synonymous with premium standards."

Prosperity into 2026

The current agricultural rally is providing a massive liquidity boost to rural provinces just in time for the Tet holiday. As the final export containers of 2025 depart from Cat Lai and Hai Phong ports, the sector's momentum shows no signs of slowing down. With the implementation of the 2026 legal frameworks on the horizon, the focus is now shifting toward sustaining these high prices through brand protection and digital innovation.
