The victim has been identified as Mr. V.L.S., 44, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City.
The grim discovery was made on the morning of November 9 by Mr. N.V.K., a 51-year-old local fisherman from Ke Ga village. While working approximately half a nautical mile from the shore, Mr. K. spotted the body adrift and already in a state of decomposition. He immediately retrieved the victim and brought him to shore, alerting the authorities.
The Tan Thanh Border Guard post, which had been coordinating the search, confirmed the man's identity as the missing tourist.
The Incident and a Desperate Search
Mr. S. was reported missing on the morning of November 7 while he was swimming at the popular, yet notoriously rough, beach in the Ke Ga area. He was quickly overwhelmed by strong currents and dragged away from the shore.
His disappearance launched a massive, two-day search and rescue operation. The Tan Thanh Border Guard deployed dozens of officers and soldiers, using its official patrol canoe. They were joined by local police, the Tan Thanh Commune Military Command, and numerous local fishermen who volunteered their time and fishing boats to scour the coastline.
Despite the extensive and coordinated effort, the teams were unable to locate Mr. S.
Authorities Issue Urgent "No Swimming" Warning
Following the tragic outcome, the Tan Thanh Border Guard has issued a strong advisory to all residents and tourists, warning them to "absolutely not swim in the sea at this time."
An official stated that the region is currently under the influence of a strong Northeast monsoon. This weather pattern is generating dangerously high waves and powerful, unpredictable winds, making coastal waters extremely hazardous.
"The sea conditions are treacherous and pose a high risk to safety," the Border Guard statement warned. "We urge everyone to stay out of the water to prevent further loss of life."
Tan Thanh Commune Police have completed all legal procedures and formally handed over the victim's body to his family for funeral rites.
