CaliToday (29/11/2025): A horrific act of violence near the White House on the eve of Thanksgiving has exposed a catastrophic failure in the Biden administration’s handling of the chaotic 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan.
A senior intelligence official in the Trump administration has confirmed the shocking truth: Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the suspect who ambushed and shot two National Guard service members, was brought into the United States in 2021 under the Biden administration without undergoing proper security screening.
The “Lethal Combination”: Bypassing All Screening Standards
Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), took to X to assert that the Biden administration had "ignored all standard screening protocols" during the mass evacuation following the fall of Kabul. This oversight allowed over 85,000 Afghan evacuees, including individuals with profiles similar to the attacker, to enter the US without rigorous security checks.
According to Kent, the sole criteria used by the Biden administration at the time was minimal: whether the person had merely been "checked to fight the Taliban." This standard entirely disregarded whether the individual was suitable for permanent resettlement, integration, or future citizenship in the US.
Kent branded this policy a "lethal combination," particularly when coupled with the entry of over 2 million individuals from various Muslim-majority nations who also underwent minimal vetting.
Intelligence Agencies Confirm Responsibility
Both the CIA and the Department of Homeland Security have corroborated that the Biden administration was responsible for bringing Lakanwal into the country under the “Operation Allies Welcome” program.
Further reports from inspectors general indicated that the Biden administration "lacked sufficient data" to conduct proper security screening on these individuals. This failure was especially pronounced as tens of thousands of members from CIA-backed Zero Units—special Afghan forces—were rapidly moved to Washington State, often with incomplete background information.
The Atrocity Near the White House
The attack was a brutal ambush: Lakanwal fired just four rounds from a handgun, but it was enough to kill 20-year-old service member Sarah Beckstrom and critically injure 24-year-old Private Andrew Wolfe.
In a horrifying escalation, the attacker attempted to seize Beckstrom’s rifle to continue the assault. He was ultimately subdued by a heroic service member who rushed Lakanwal and stabbed him multiple times to neutralize him while he was reloading.
New information reveals that Lakanwal had filed for asylum and was granted approval by the Biden administration in April 2024, further cementing the failure of the vetting process.
