CaliToday (01/11/2025): As anticipation builds for one of the year's most awaited sci-fi blockbusters, renowned Filipino prosthetic artist and cosplayer Prince De Guzman has just unveiled his "wildest, most daring, and ambitious project for 2025": a stunningly accurate cosplay of the new Yautja, "Dek."
The reveal, which is an official collaboration with 20th Century Studios, is part of the promotional campaign for the highly anticipated film "Predator: Badlands," set to hit Philippine cinemas on November 5.
The elaborate photoshoot also features fellow artist Awie as "Thia," the film's human protagonist, bringing the movie's central characters to life in breathtaking detail.
A Lifelong Dream Realized
For De Guzman, this project is more than just another commission; it's the culmination of a lifelong dream.
"This is a dream!" the artist shared in his announcement. "I grew up with the lore of Xenomorphs and Yautjas, so to do this project with 20th Century Studios for the PH events is truly an honor."
He noted that it has "always been his goal as an artist to create a Yautja cosplay" since the very beginning of his career.
The complexity of the build is staggering. De Guzman revealed the painstaking process, which involved an accumulated 48 hours just to sculpt the intricate prosthetic mask. An additional 48 hours were required to mold, construct, cure, and apply the final paint, perfectly capturing the creature's menacing look.

The "Badlands" Context: A New Era for Predator
This high-level collaboration underscores the global excitement surrounding "Predator: Badlands." The film is the direct follow-up to 2022's critically acclaimed blockbuster, Prey. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, Prey revitalized the 35-year-old franchise, earning praise for its intense action and fresh perspective.
"Badlands" is set to continue this new momentum, and 20th Century Studios is clearly investing heavily in high-impact, localized marketing tapping top-tier local talent like De Guzman to generate hype.
A Hive Mind of Artists
De Guzman was quick to credit the "collaborative and hive minds" of the other artists who helped bring the ambitious vision to life.
He gave special thanks to his #TeamTransformations, including Eij Crafts and Cosplays and Carian Cruz, who were responsible for crafting the additional costume parts and intricate Yautja weaponry.
The stunning photographs were captured by Chit and processed by CLY, showcasing the cinematic quality of the costumes.
Fans can expect to see more of Dek and Thia soon. De Guzman teased that this is just the beginning, urging followers to "stay tuned for their next announcements for their #PredatorBadlands adventure! It's going to be a fun ride!"
