Vietnam Secures Top 4 Spot in World's Best Culinary Destinations for 2025

CaliToday (/2025): Vietnam, long celebrated by travelers as a "food paradise," has received a major international honor, officially being named one of the world's best culinary destinations in the 2025 Readers' Choice Awards.

Beef stew bread is one of the favorite dishes of many tourists.

The ranking was announced by the prestigious U.S. travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveller, which compiles the annual awards based on votes from its readers around the globe. This year's list honors 15 global destinations that "thrilled the taste buds" of travelers the most.

To qualify for the list, each country had to achieve a satisfaction score of 94% or higher from readers.

Bun cha is also a "must-try" dish when traveling to Vietnam.

According to the organizers, the awards recognize that cuisine is a vital part of the travel experience and a deep reflection of a nation's identity. "From rich buffet breakfasts and flavorful street food to elegant dinners... all clearly reflect the identity and pride of a country with a special culinary culture," the magazine stated. "Enjoying local cuisine is a way to understand more about the people and culture of that place."

In this highly competitive global ranking, Vietnam made a powerful impression, securing the 4th position with an outstanding score of 96.67%.

Condé Nast Traveller praised the country's abundant natural resources, noting that while "lush green terraced rice fields have become a familiar image of Vietnam," the country also "possesses a source of the freshest ingredients."

The magazine highlighted the nation's diverse and aromatic dishes, writing, "Hot rice dishes, vermicelli (bún), steamed rice rolls (bánh cuốn)... all are combined with fresh vegetables, sweet, tender meat, and the intense aroma of various herbs."

Quang noodles, spring rolls and broken rice, dishes made from rice that captivate international visitors when they come to Vietnam.

The publication reserved special acclaim for Vietnam's legendary street food culture, a highlight for nearly every visitor.

"No one who has backpacked in Vietnam fails to mention the street food," Condé Nast Traveller wrote. The magazine pointed to iconic culinary hubs, "from the bustling Cai Rang floating market, crowded with boats, to the small stalls in the Xom Chieu alley in Ho Chi Minh City, which brings together the essence of Vietnamese dishes at affordable prices but with unforgettable, rich flavors."

This year's list featured a diverse collection of culinary hotspots from Asia, Europe, and South America. The coveted number one spot for the world's best food destination in 2025 was awarded to Vietnam's neighbor, Thailand, which led the list with a 98.33% rating from readers.

Vietnam's high placement confirms its status as a world-class destination for food lovers, celebrated for its freshness, flavor, and deep cultural roots.
