CaliToday (13/10/2025): SAN JOSE, CA – The relentless pursuit of justice continues as an eighth suspect has been arrested in connection with the violent, brazen smash-and-grab robbery of a San Jose jewelry store in September, a crime that shocked the community and left the store's elderly owner seriously injured.

San Jose police officials announced Thursday that detectives had identified 19-year-old Julian Gacutan of South San Francisco as a key participant in the September 5th heist at Kim Hung Jewelry on Aborn Road. Following the identification, authorities secured arrest and search warrants for Gacutan and his residence.
In a coordinated effort, Gacutan was located and arrested without incident in Oakland on October 3, with assistance from the San Ramon Police Department. The arrest marks another significant step in dismantling the large group responsible for the attack.
"I said it before and I'll say it again: hiding behind a mask in a crowd of thugs will not shield you from accountability," San Jose Assistant Police Chief Brian Shab declared in a firm statement. "This additional arrest proves that your temporary flight from justice won't stop us from finding you and arresting you."

The daytime robbery was executed with shocking brutality. According to investigators, a group of at least 10 individuals initiated the attack by ramming a vehicle directly through the front entrance of the family-owned store. Once inside, the suspects, armed and aggressive, spread out. One suspect brandished a firearm at a man inside, while others violently assaulted the store’s 88-year-old owner.
The elderly victim suffered a stroke during the traumatic incident. He was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and, fortunately, has since been able to return home to continue his recovery. The assailants made off with thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry before fleeing the scene in multiple vehicles.
The crime drew widespread condemnation, not only for its violence but for its attack on a beloved local business.
"This was not just an attack on a hardworking family. It was an attack on a legacy business that represents the American dream," Assistant Chief Shab stated during an earlier press conference announcing the initial wave of arrests.
Those initial arrests were the result of a massive, multi-agency operation involving over 100 officers and four separate SWAT teams. The seven previously apprehended suspects were captured in communities across the region, including Dublin, Pacifica, San Leandro, San Jose, Manteca, and Antioch. They have been identified as:
Angel Herrera, 21, of Pacifica
Toddisha Mayfield, 31, of San Leandro
Zakhari Blue-Gordon, 23, of East Palo Alto
Tom Donegan, 19, of Manteca
Jacques Samuel, 18, of San Francisco
Cisco Luti, 18, of South San Francisco
Amari Green, 21, of San Francisco
San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan praised the police department's continued efforts on Thursday, reinforcing the city's commitment to holding all perpetrators accountable.
"With this latest arrest, we are one step closer to ensuring every single person involved in this cowardly crime faces the consequences of their actions," Mayor Mahan said.
All eight suspects have been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of robbery. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify and locate any remaining individuals involved in the heist.
