Luong Nguyen Minh Triet Appointed as New Party Secretary of Da Nang City

CaliToday (07/9/2025): The Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam has officially appointed Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet to the position of Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee. Mr. Triet, who previously served as the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, now assumes the most powerful political post in the major coastal city.

The announcement was made following a decision by the country's highest political body, reflecting a significant move in the leadership of one of Vietnam's key economic and tourism hubs.

In Vietnam's single-party political system, the Secretary of the Party Committee is the highest-ranking official in a province or centrally-governed city. The role holds ultimate responsibility for overseeing all political, economic, social, and security matters, setting the long-term strategic direction for the locality. This appointment is a major promotion for Mr. Triet, moving him from the head of the city's government administration to the head of its entire political apparatus.

As Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, a role analogous to a city mayor or governor, Mr. Triet was responsible for the executive branch of the city's government. His duties included implementing policies, managing the city's budget, and overseeing the day-to-day administrative functions. His tenure in that role has provided him with deep experience in the governance and development of Da Nang.

His mobilization to the Party Secretary position is seen as a vote of confidence from the central leadership in his ability to guide Da Nang's future growth. In his new capacity, Mr. Triet will lead the city's Party organization and be the final authority on major policy decisions.

Da Nang is a Class-1 municipality and a vital hub for Central Vietnam, known for its rapid development, thriving tourism sector, and growing technology industry. The leadership of the city is considered a crucial post within the national political landscape. This appointment is a key development as Da Nang continues to pursue its ambitious socio-economic goals.
