WASHINGTON D.C. / BERLIN – The United States and its key European ally, Germany, are significantly accelerating the delivery of advanced weaponry to Ukraine, including critical air defense systems, in a concerted effort to fortify Kyiv's ability to defend against intensified Russian missile and drone attacks.
In a move highlighting the extreme urgency of the situation, the United States is rushing Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. Underscoring the priority of this delivery, the Pentagon has redirected a complete Patriot system that was originally produced for and slated to be delivered to Switzerland. The Swiss government has reportedly agreed to the delay to allow Ukraine to receive the vital defensive capabilities immediately.
The Patriot system is one of the most advanced air defense platforms in the world, capable of intercepting tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and advanced aircraft.
