Israeli Prime Minister's Corruption Trial Postponed Due to Food Poisoning

Israeli Prime Minister

JERUSALEM – The ongoing corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was unexpectedly postponed on Monday after his office announced he was suffering from a case of food poisoning.

The Prime Minister's legal team informed the Jerusalem District Court of his illness shortly before the day's proceedings were scheduled to commence. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Netanyahu fell ill over the weekend after eating spoiled food and was diagnosed with intestinal inflammation and dehydration.

Doctors have advised him to rest at his residence for the next three days, where he will continue to manage state affairs remotely.

The court accepted the request for a postponement. Due to the upcoming summer recess for the court system, the trial is not expected to resume until September at the earliest.

This is the latest in a series of delays for the high-profile trial, in which the Prime Minister faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. Mr. Netanyahu has consistently denied all allegations, dismissing them as politically motivated.
