LONDON – September 4, 2025 – The United Kingdom has further intensified its economic pressure on Moscow by imposing a new round of sanctions on 11 Russian individuals and entities. The measures are aimed at undermining Russia's military capabilities and disrupting the supply chains that support its ongoing war in Ukraine.
The announcement was made this morning by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. The list of newly sanctioned parties reportedly includes companies involved in the procurement and supply of electronics and critical components for Russian military hardware, such as drones and missile systems. It also names several business figures and officials accused of providing financial or material support to the Kremlin's defense sector.
Under the new designations, the targeted entities and individuals will be subject to immediate asset freezes, preventing them from accessing any property or funds held in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the individuals named will be placed under a travel ban, prohibiting them from entering or transiting through the UK.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, the UK Foreign Secretary emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to holding Russia accountable for its aggression.
"We will continue to tighten the economic vise on the Kremlin and its enablers," the statement read. "These sanctions will further disrupt the supply chains that fuel Putin's illegal war in Ukraine and make clear that we will hold accountable those who enable this aggression. Our support for Ukraine is steadfast."
This latest action is part of a broader, coordinated strategy with international allies, including the United States and the European Union, to systematically dismantle Russia's ability to wage war. The overarching goal is to create a comprehensive economic blockade on Russia's defense industry, making it increasingly difficult and costly for Moscow to produce and maintain the weapons it uses on the battlefield.
While Moscow has not yet formally responded to this specific round of sanctions, it has consistently condemned such measures as hostile and illegitimate, often retaliating with its own reciprocal actions. The UK government has reiterated that it will continue to apply economic and diplomatic pressure until Russia completely withdraws its forces from Ukraine's sovereign territory.
